Holistic Health Education Curriculum
a customizable, online, self-paced high school curriculum
This homeschool curriculum meets every state’s health education requirement for high school graduation, minus gender identity content. The nutrition assignments take a holistic approach, introducing students to new health concepts or reinforcing the ones discussed at home. The goal of this curriculum is for students to learn that many aspects of their health are within their control and there are alternative options to Western medicine that can provide excellent results. Utilizing scientific research, students will be empowered to make informed choices that support both physical and mental well-being allowing them to develop well-supported opinions and the confidence to express them clearly.
How it Works
Through a variety of self-paced online assignments that can fulfill 1/2 or 1 full credit, the course is designed to be 4 days a week with 1 hour of physical activity expected to be completed throughout the week. The physical fitness expectation can be either a sport or activity the student is already involved in or they can follow the provided assignment of setting a simple 90 day measurable goal. Assignments are about 45min each day and will incorporate links to articles to read and respond to, researching given topics and responding, hands-on projects, documentaries, video lessons, certifications and supplemental options for deeper learning about certain subjects. Students can choose all assignments based on interest or follow the suggested preassigned schedule, or a mix of both. All work can be done in a spiral notebook. A minimum of 7 pages will need to be printed.
Sample Assignment
The preassigned schedule includes “required” assignments from each topic providing a well-rounded foundation in health education, while still allowing time for students to choose some assignments based on interest. If preferred, the entire course can be customized by choosing every assignment.
